The Supreme Foreknowledge of God.
This website is of course devoted to presentation and discussion of the Gospel. The Gospel is indeed simple. A child can understand it and believe it; this is in fact how Jesus instructs us to come to Him. However the implications of the Gospel and the attributes of God are things that the most brilliant of natural men could study for infinite lifetimes and never fully grasp. I would like to briefly examine a few of those attributes and implications here.
God is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). God knows all (1 John 3:20). God is perfect; the only thing He cannot do is make a mistake (Deuteronomy 32:4). God is not bound by time or space; in fact, he invented and created them both, along with matter; it is summed up perfectly for us, right at the beginning of the Bible in Genesis 1:1.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
The following paragraph paraphrases an excellent explanation of this principal that I heard presented by Dr. Kent Hovind:
“In the beginning:” this signifies the creation of time, “God created the heaven…:” there’s space, “…and the earth:” there’s matter. All of these created in the proper order: First, time, otherwise when would you put space, space before matter, otherwise where would you put the matter?
This being the case, God always knew everything, even before time began; this is something that we cannot even begin to comprehend, much less properly describe or discuss, so I won’t try. This truth is of course wonderful in and of its self, because a God that our finite brains could truly comprehend would not be much of a God, and therefore not much worth worshiping. When we ponder all of this, the implications of our infinite God’s love for us are shown to be utterly immeasurable by our means of understanding; I would say infinite. We realize that God’s hatred for and intolerance of sin has always been, even before time began. His perfect law and the penalty for sinning; breaking that law, has always been, even before time began. He knew that He was going to be creating us, even before time began. He decided to give us a choice to obey or rebel against Him; to accept or reject Him, even before time began. He knew how we would choose, even before time began. Being perfect, thus always genuine and fully authentic, He knew what it would cost Him to keep and fulfill His own law for us, in order to save us, even before time began. He knew that He would indeed pay that cost on our behalf, even before time began. He created us anyway. I won’t merely say that He loved us that much from the beginning, because it goes back, speaking in our limited terms of course, even further than that; it goes back into an aspect of eternity that we cannot even begin to grasp.
It is a terrible shame when people are deceived by the evil one into feeling insignificant. Because of God’s infinite and incomprehensible love, we are anything but insignificant, and by His grace, we need not and must not allow ourselves to be stuck in that state of mind. God has profoundly established and demonstrated our significance in Himself and by Himself (Genesis 1, John 1, 3:16, Hebrews 1:3, Revelation 1:8, 22:13, etc.). Those of us who have trusted Christ as Savior can and should continuously take refuge in this wonderful truth. Those of you who may be reading this now who have not trusted Christ as Savior can simply do so right now and immediately take refuge in that infinite and incomprehensible love. There is nothing that you need to wait for. You can have it now. Again, the Gospel; the good news, is simple: Christ died for your sins, according to the Scriptures; just like the Old Testament said He would, He was buried and rose again 3 days later, just like the Old Testament predicted (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Just believe it; trust it. When you do, He seals you with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13). Bring Jesus whatever faith that you have; that’s all He wants right now; He meets you where you are. Perhaps you are not sure that you even believe in God? Please have an unhurried look at the “Creation Resources” section of this site.
He knew what it would cost Him to save you before He created you. He created you anyway. He loves you that much. God bless.
