A Prayer for Christa Pike; for the Salvation of a Fellow Sinner

Christa Pike is scheduled to be executed tomorrow at 10 am. This post has nothing to do with the justice or injustice of her sentence. It is about the eternal well-being of a fellow sinner...who Jesus desires to be saved by His grace, as I am.

*** 10-2-26 I wrote and sent her a letter after her botched execution. I will paste it below. Perhaps this botched execution is an answer to prayer. I included my contact info, as well as some other info. Please continue to pray for her, as well as the rest of the incarcerated population.

A prayer for Christa Pike; for the salvation of a fellow sinner.

Please pray with me:

Jesus, I know that your cross was necessary to pay for my sins just as much as anyone else's. What Christa Pike did to Colleen was horrendous, but I know that much of my Bible was written by 3 murders, and that all sin, including mine, deserves its just wage (Romans 6:23). I know that you love Christa, and I would ask you to reveal yourself to her tonight, as you did to the malefactor (thief) who put his trust in you in his final hours, as he was crucified next to you. In her final hours here on Earth, may Christa put her trust in You for the free gift of salvation that you paid for in full on the cross; believing in your power to cleanse her from all of her sins, and may she experience Your peace that passes all understanding. I would ask that I one day see her on the other side, after I see you face to face as you are (1 John 3:2). I would ask for comfort for Collen's mother tonight and that you would also do a mighty work in her as well. Thank You for being who You are, Amen.

2Pe_3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Dear Christa,

I only know you from your high-profile criminal case, nonetheless, the Lord has put a burden upon my heart for you. I ask you to please take the time to read and consider what I write here.

The Lord put it on my heart to pray for you; particular for your salvation; eternal wellbeing, in the evening of September 29; the night before your scheduled execution (last night). I spent a good amount of time praying for this and messaged a number of others directly to ask them to do so as well, as well as posting a call for it on social media.

When I was thinking about your situation last night, the following passage came to mind:

 Luke 23:39  And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

Luke 23:42  And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 

Luke 23:43  And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. 

The man who hung on the cross next to Jesus was guilty of something bad enough to deserve crucifixion; one of, if not the worst possible ways to die, he even admitted to it. He believed on Jesus; for who He is; took Him at His word. And because of this, Jesus gave him eternal life. He did absolutely NOTHING to earn it. He couldn’t; neither can you or I.

I believe that the sinfulness of any one of us, myself included, most definitely required the sacrifice that Jesus made in order to allow us to be worthy of spending eternity in His presence.

Christa, I want you to have everlasting life. I so do not want you to go to Hell. I really mean it. God offers you forgiveness and everlasting life just for the asking. Yes, there are consequences for our actions, as you are well aware, but you need not face eternal damnation; the ultimate penalty of all sin, including mine. The just sentence of God for our sin goes far beyond what any department of corrections has the ability or authority to do. Departments of corrections can only incarcerate us for a time, and only kill the physical body. They have no eternal authority. God does. However along with that authority and justice goes unspeakable and unfathomable love. Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages (the just deserts) of sin is death (everlasting death; the kind only God has the rightful authority to dispense), but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. What happened is that God did indeed justly judge our sin, however He served our sentence for us; He took the wage that was payable to us; He made the payment, however you want to look at it. He just wants to believe Him; take Him at His word that He did it for us; just to accept His gift. I also believe that He would have went to the cross to serve the sentence for any one of us.

He wants you to repent; that means to change your mind about any sort of other effort to reach Him (or about giving up), and trust in Him for what He has done for you. He wants you to stop beating yourself up and focusing on your inadequacy to measure up to His standard (we are all inadequate to measure up to His standard by our own power) and focus upon His adequacy to meet the standard; His perfect righteousness that He places upon you, just for the asking; just like he did for the man hanging next to Him on the cross who had nothing to offer but His faith; that is all that Jesus wants from you right now. Any good works that have any meaning are a result of that. And when this happens, you are sealed by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13) for everlasting life.

I put this letter down yesterday to work on it later, as I thought that they would be putting your terribly botched execution off for a later date, if they would have gone through with it at all. Good heavens! What a fiasco! Street junkies effortlessly die of drug overdoses effortlessly all of the time, but trained medical professionals couldn’t get you to have one?! Nonetheless, I am glad that they failed so miserably, as this may have been an answer to my prayer; now you have more time.

Please get rid of your “spiritual” advisor. He has nothing but empty words. He has that can help you. He has nothing but the dead impotent Buddha and his false teachings. I present you with the living and omnipotent Jesus who cannot only help you, but save you from the hopeless and horrific eternity that you narrowly escaped. He is the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes unto the Father (into Heaven/eternal life) but by Him. As I already mentioned, it is there for the taking. All other religious system (I really don’t like that word, but I will use it for now) are about our efforts to reach God. That just doesn’t work, because God is perfect and His standard is perfection; something you and I can never achieve by our own power. Jesus reaches down to us and takes us with Him, if we let Him, and gives us His perfection so we can have eternal perfect and fulfilling fellowship with Him.

Jesus is alive; it can be documented. Also, why would the 12 apostles have allowed themselves to be tortured, imprisoned, beaten, and executed in horrendous ways for something they knew to be a lie? They knew for certain that Jesus either rose from the dead or that He didn’t. If He had not risen, they would never have allowed such atrocities to happen to them. Also, if the resurrection were indeed a lie, how did these 12 rag-tag guys keep it straight for 40 years? I don’t think so. There were also other eye-witnesses, about 500.

Please know that much of the Bible was written by 3 murders: Moses, King David, and Saul of Tarsus (aka Paul).

Please know that there are no church rituals that you need to undergo, nor there any sort of special prayers that you need to recite to receive eternal life from Jesus; the repentant malefactor on the cross next to Him, who He promised would be in Heaven that day certainly couldn’t do any rituals, and we have no record of him reciting any special prayers. He just took Jesus at His word about what He was doing and who He is. He just wants you believe that He died in your place to pay your penalty, that He was buried (because He really died), and that He rose the 3d day, according to the Scriptures. He just wants you to take Him at His word. The wage of sin is not being sorry for it, behaving well, or even making amends for it; the wage of sin is death (Romans 6:23). You can either pay it eternally, or accept the payment that Jesus has already made for it on your behalf. I pray that you will choose the later.

In the scope of all things, I do not believe that your botched execution was an accident. I believe that it very well may have been of divine appointment; an answer to the prayers of myself and many others for your salvation. It seems that you have a reprieve. Please take advantage of it and put your trust in Jesus; the Creator of the Universe who loves you more than you can imagine. He just wants you to choose and trust in Him. You don’t want to suffer the unspeakable consequences of spending eternity without doing so. I hope to see you in Heaven. God bless.

Jesus tells us in John 6:47: “Verily verily I say unto you, he that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” The original Greek word “pisteuo” that is used in the New Testament, which is translated to “believe,” in the English Bible translations means to totally rely upon; to commit one’s trust to something; to truly have faith in something; to take someone at their word. I like to think of it like this: I am up on the edge of a balcony of the fourth or fifth floor of a building that is very much on fire, so much so that I cannot go back inside of it. I am obviously too far up to jump to safety either. I am alone, and I am trying to figure out a way to get myself out of the mess that I am in that is going to most certainly result in my death, if I do not find a way to get myself out of it. Obviously, there is no way that I am going to be able to get myself out of it. While I am pondering my dire situation, the first response team shows up with their truck with the big extension ladder. It is extended up to me, along with a first responder, who tells me to take his hand and step over to him. At that point I have to repent. In most of the New Testament, the English word “repent” is translated from the Greek words “metanoia” or “metanoeo.” Both of these words mean to change (“meta”) your mind (“noia is a noun, noeo is a verb). In other words, I have to change my mind about relying on any of my own feeble and useless efforts to get myself out of this deadly predicament of fire and a long drop to the ground; I must make the decision instead to simply take the hand of the first responder, step on to the ladder and allow (FULLY trust) the first responder and his team to save me from my otherwise fatal predicament. In the same way, I must repent of; as in change my mind about relying on any of my feeble and useless works at all, including promises to somehow change my life, as well as religious rites and rituals, etc., to somehow help to make me good enough or “eligible” to be saved from the fate that I deserved, and thus be able to come into God’s presence. None of these useless efforts that I make contribute even a little bit to making me eligible for the free gift of salvation. Instead, I must simply trust and fully/completely rely upon Jesus, and Jesus alone, to save me. My example with the first responders is, however, somewhat flawed. In the example, I had to actually do a few small things in order to help the first responders save me. In terms of Jesus saving me, I simply trust him, PERIOD. In terms of salvation: Jesus plus something is NOTHING, Jesus plus nothing is EVERYTHING!
